these ads are designed so the ad reverts to its original size once you move the mouse away from it and particularly once you take your finger off your mouse. That's the IAB standard. If this is not happening then it may be more of a technical issue that I can work to resolve for you. If your users are looking to avoid them I would suggest maybe putting up a message to let them know that as long as they don't go over the ad with their mouse, it won't expand. And then if they do, and they want the ad to go away, just move the mouse away from the ad or take their finger off the mouse for a second and it will go back to normal.
if they dont behave as above and you can replicate it at will, please let me know and they will look at why...

Often AULRO is the first site I go to when getting online. Usually my AntiVirus is running a scan after startup and using a bit of RAM, I find that when that's happening the Dropdown Ads tend to "Hang".
Yes they are annoying, but I'll get over it...

I think we have got more value out of the site than the inconvience of a couple of drop downs.......cost of doing business id say. Could have no ads but we could have no site too and I know the non technical like I would lose out. Thats why I subscribe and willingly.

    just a thought

Just think Peter, now you get to have graphics in your signature line!

AuLRO's worth every penny I reckon!

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

oh come on - its mostly text being sent to & from the database - most pictures are hyperlinked else where same with video's. Given the moden hosting options it can't be that much. 170 is nothing - look at the likes of Overclockers Australia Forums - Powered by vBulletin where 2,000 users at once is common.

If anything its probly the storage cost.

I have in the past & will sub again when I can for the information thats here, thats invaluable .
