thats the end of the pacific

just watched the last episode of The Pacific,

and what a great show it was, i realy liked it,, and how they ended it,, but the way they say the war just doesn't end after the fighting has stopped,

my dad was in the Vietnam war and a few other conflicts and also has PDSD to this day,,

I was severely disappointed with the series. I guess with it being hyped as "Band of Brothers 2" I was expecting far more.

Terrible character growth and story structure and the first 5 episodes were of appalling quality. Sure, it was entertaining, but definitely lower than expected from the likes of Spielberg and co.

The lowest point was the episode in Melbourne. Shocking.

its not bad....but its not a patch on Band of Brothers in terms of capturing the relationship between men in combat.

Yeah it all seamed so forced and rushed.
Script was terrible. Acting was sub par (except for Sledge) and don't get me started on the VFX.

It is like they read "How to make a war drama 101" and copied it exactly...

Memphis Belle is epic mate. Love that movie to death.
I know they butchered the true story, but it's still a great flick.

"it's the rookies....they got the rookies"

That movie had some great moments in it.
    -Rookies being shot down.
-Diving to put out engine fire
    -General air combat
-The montage of real combat footage while the PR guy is reading letters from family members of KIA crew
-The ending with the knackered wheel
    *grinding noise*
    "something's wrong..."
"Something IS wrong, the right wheel didn't come down"
    -Ball turret being blown away
-The tension between the drunk navigator and the phoney Doctor
-The soup mug being hit with flack
"Val you better get up here quick!!!"
"hey, I'm on the bomb run..."

    oh and ofcourse:
"There's a hole as big as my dick in the left wing"

    loooove it.
