Is this the new snake oil

Mr Old offers a new device
    Cait Bester | 29th May 2010

Glenn Old tops up with water at Mackay as he explains the virtues of his fuel cell device designed to use gas from water to improve fuel economy. Mr Old hopes to reduce public dependency on foreign oil

    Peter Holt
SARINA man Glenn Old says his device can turn water into fuel.

For six months Mr Old has been working with a group of American engineers to design, master and perfect a hybrid fuel cell device that could save motorists money and help reduce greenhouse gases.

“We have developed our HHO generator with safety first, designing a unit that produces enough hydrogen to safely gain up to 60 per cent increase in fuel economy and up to 30 per cent reduction in carbon emissions,” Mr Old said.

“We have gained national display rights to our product. Our purpose is to reduce the public dependency on foreign oil and we believe on a large scale with our device we will be able to remove smog from our capital cities within five years.

“Our unique patented device simply converts water from H2O into a gas called HHO, this gas is two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen. Thus turning any vehicle into a water/petrol or water/diesel hybrid.

“Although this technology has been available for some time, its new application hasn't. This gas is then fed into any current engine, petrol or diesel. The gas mixes with the current fuel and increases the flame burn rate and reduces GHGE.

“During testing at a government-approved air care facility in Vancouver, Canada, a reduction of 51.5 per cent of emissions was achieved on a 5.9 litre Cummins turbo diesel engine.

“One of the best features of our product is that the gas is produced on demand, so there are no storage requirements of hydrogen. You start your vehicle it produces the gas, turn the vehicle off (and) production ceases.

“Also our product is able to be transferred from vehicle to vehicle, so when a customer sells their car they can keep our device and move it to the new vehicle.

“On our website people will find a FAQs page where they will find numerous links to SAE (Standard Automotive Engineering) International who have data and papers which validate our technology.

“Our product has a five-year/150,000km warranty and we believe so strongly in it that we are also giving all truckies and commercial diesel users a 100 per cent money-back guarantee. If they don't save fuel we will give the money back.”

The HHO generator retails at $780 and Glenn can be contacted through the website or at Sarina Markets tomorrow.

I wonder how I should interpret this message from my browser when I tried the link.

Oops! Google Chrome could not find www.hybridfuelcell.com.au

    Does it mean:
    • The site is so popular that there was an unacceptable long delay loading

    • There is a typo in the link

    • The site is as dodgy as the product

    • It is all someone's idea of a joke?

    update snake oil

Today Brisbane Times reprinted the article from the Daily Mecury so the circulation multiplier will start working l am sure

    Found this site

Convert your car to run on water as fuel

Which alleges reviews 3 water to fuel systems on the market and rates them for cost, ease installation, efficiency.

Seems snake oil salesme are getting smarter

Ah, at great risk of getting flamed to hell here, my mate made something similar after seeing some crap on the net. Oversimplified I think he used plates of stainless steel immersed in water, put current through them, reaction is hydrogen. Got that hydrogen through tube straight into a lawnmower. He reckoned it ran smoother blah blah. He isn't online atm so I can't confirm exactly what he did or get pics.

Don't know if this stuff is similar, the above tech does work. I have no idea on how long the reaction keeps working for, as in if you have to keep feeding it stainless or water? Obv if you have to feed it stainless you are not going to save any money unless you keep chopping up peoples kitchen sinks haha.

$780 is an expensive hiclone - maybe if you have both installed you save up to 120% fuel useage, so driving your car actually fills up your fuel tank. woot.

    Got Crucified as-well?

I've looked into the info a year or so ago and it seems to be pushing that the gas (brown) is a catalyst causing a higher burn % in the engine.
But the higher efficiency doesn't replace the extra fuel burned to power the alternator.
