Hi All,
With all the recent talk of crash stats in Victoria (which I think is crap anyway) I wanted to find the following information:
How many new licenses per month & per year (Covering Car, Bike & Truck)
How many new rego's per month & per year
For the crash stats I want to find out how many were:
Drunk
Unlicensed
Un-rego'd
L platers
P platers
Fully licensed
I have been searching for this info online for a while now & I am not turning up anything. Any idea where I can get this info or whom I should be writing to, to ask for the info & to have it highlighted more?
Personally I think those numbers are all hidden to give a worse view of our road & traffic situation then it really is.

Two places I suggest - Australian Bureau of Statistics, and Monash University Accident Research group. I doubt you will find anything from the State Government!

Cheers - couldn't find anything on the VIC police website.
I'll see how I go with Australian Bureau of Statistics, and Monash University Accident Research group tomorrow - but I think some of the info will have to come from Vicroads - of course - that is if they will release it??
I am willing to bet they hand out over 1,000 new licenses in this state in a week easy. So 2 or 4 more on top of the road toll from last year really ain't so bad.
Write a letter to the state minister responsible, set out your questions. The letter will go to Vicroads and if they're anything like RTA there's a road safety department full of people obsessed with this stuff. They'll get the info for you and the minister will send you it back.
Or give Vicroads a call and ask to speak to someone in road safety.
Or call the Motor Accidents Authority.
Be prepared to pay for any info supllied.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
What about freedom of info act??
Well - asfter getting asked lots of questions why I wanted the nifo - turns out that Vicroads are fairly helpful when I asked![]()
Emails sent - waiting for details. Then I am shipping them off to every major news paper & ACA program plus my local news papaer. I am willing to bet that the stats will show that with the increase of people no the roads the road toll is actually very, very low. Time will tell

Cheers all.
