    Any Hillman owners on here???

    Hi All
My dad just bought two old Hillman Minx's that he is planning on restoring. He is even putting a diesel in one of them. I was just wondering if anyone on here owns or has ever owned a Hillman...

Hi, My Uncle had a Fully Restored Hillman Minx, not sure what happened to it when he died as there had been a family split and had not seen much of him even though he was not directly involved.
My Grandfather had a Hillman Hunter station wagon from brand new and drove it to work right up until he retired and for a while after, dont know what happend to that either but is one of my distinct memories as a kid.

my daddy had a 1951 minx that was the joy of his life.... till he bought a 1964 humber vogue...

one of my earliest memories is walking in front of the hillman in a pea soup fog on the old road in to deep water bend, waving a torch so he could see where i was, as you couldnt see the road at all from in the vehicle... things we used to do to drown bait...

ps there is a rootes group station wagon down the road from me in nice condition that make a nice restorer...

My first car was a '54 Minx, the last of the side valves. My second car was a '51, same mechanicals, with the intention of changing the engine. I only ever got round to changing the number plate, singular Q665-418.

Inc, I trapped many a muddy at Deep Water Bend.

Dallas, Melbourne circa 1967. Nana & Pop on a visit from Sydney. Me 2nd from left with the blond hair.

I would have been 5 or 6 but I still remember it (48 now) as Pop took me for a "drive" in the shopping centre car park

Only posted this because I'm busy scanning and restoring the family pics at the moment (and for the next decade) and did this one a few days ago.

Back in 1987 my first car was a 1965 Hillman Minx. Being 18 it wasn't my favourite car but you just could not kill it. It went every where and was tough as. If you did not have the keys you could get in through the front quarter window and start it with a 5 cent piece, very handy.

One day I left it a the train station and came back and it was gone, rang dad to see if he took it and when we realised it was stolen we burst out laughing. The police found it at a shopping center 20kms away, a couple of VB's were left on the seat. Ahhh the memories.

Had it for 3 year until I save up for an LH SS Torana. Wish I still had that, worth a bit now.

PS: I like the model with the back window sloping back, look good done up.
    Cheers, David.
