Thread: Any Hillman owners on here???

Hi, the owner's manual was a wealth of information - it had all the jacking points and the dimensions for straightening the body and frame.
I think it had about 36 grease nipples in all in the suspension/steering.
It was amazing what we loaded the poor old thing up with, we had it for about 5 years and updated when expecting first child. Not that it was ever unreliable, it never left us stranded.

Here is my brother's 1959 Hillman Minx, got it back from the sand blasters today after we stripped it out completely. He only paid $250 for it, and it was already partially stripped out. There are about 20 rust holes to fix in the thing as well as a few dings, the poor girl has had a hard life.




He has 7 months before he gets his license, and will need to do a lot of work...I think dad will help him a lot
Good learning experience I think...but I think I'd stick to Landys for now

We didn't have a Hillman, but had its' "Rootes Group" cousin, 1963 Humber Vogue. Beautiful little beasty, White with the red interior - wooden dash and door inlays, went like a trooper (with a tiny donk), strong as, and stylish.
I'll see if I can find a pic.

My first car was a Hillman Imp - '64 model. Cost $300 bucks.

Put Pirellis, Lukey muffler and surfboard racks on it and thought it was Christmas.

Last seen yonks ago in a wreckers in Keith (SA) after a mate's sister got it rear-ended coming back from a pub.
