    Unhappy A Sad Tale

So today I did my shopping ready to leave tomorrow for an 8 day camping trip at Girraween NP. I've been hearing a weird rattle the last couple weeks from under my Defender which comes and goes but couldn't find what it was. Today my Defender started vibrating badly. I had a crawl under again and found my rear prop shaft UV joint was pretty buggered.

After reading some of the posts on the forums here I decided it was best to remove the prop shaft as I didn't want to risk it failing during high speed. I figured I would just postpone my trip till Tuesday morning when I could get a new prop shaft, and it would be ok to lock the centre diff and drive with just the front wheels, as I'd read in numerous other posts.

In I jump and drive off slowly around the block without too much problem. I figured I'd do one more hill before returning home so I knew that when Tuesday came I could drive to a spare parts place and get a new prop. I make it half way up when the engine starts to strain and I change down another gear then... bang! My front differential dies under the strain and i'm left with no drive to either wheels or handbrake!

I roll slowly down to the bottom of the street. RACQ now has it ready to get inspected first thing tuesday to tell me the damage $$$$.

So here's my problem. I have the next 8 days off work and no car. What can I do to keep me occupied without spending money. I'm thinking of setting up the tent in the backyard and hiking the suburbs during the day. I'll just need to use my imagination and pretend i'm on a wild adventure.
It sucks to be me right now.

    Suggestions or condolences welcome.

If you know how to replace a uni, then REPCO is your friend just give them the make, model and year and they should be able to supply one that should give rear wheel drive

    cheers

Looks like M R Automotive might be the answer if Repco or similar can't help.
In the meantime, take a trip down the camping show at the RNA Showgrounds.
Just had problems with my county, broken axle,uj's,bearings/housing,panhard rod........another grand down

you know anything about fuel injectors / pumps as I'm having fun with mine at the moment.

ps. look on the bright side if it happened down some remote track in the middle of the bush how much fun you would be having?
