With the big money in other parts of the world it is going to come down to lifestyle choice I think.

    Full story here.

The All Whites' World Cup success could end up being a poisoned chalice – robbing New Zealand of coach Ricki Herbert.
Herbert is attracting interest from Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East as the Kiwi underdogs grab international headlines after their shock 1-1 draw with world champions Italy.
Herbert was reluctant to talk about opportunities after the World Cup, but confirmed yesterday that there had been interest, with people fielding calls on his behalf.
"There are some discussions going on. ... There could be absolutely nothing come out of the discussions, but that's football."
The drums are already beating for Herbert as a potential replacement for outgoing Socceroos coach Pim Verbeek.
So, would the tournament's worst-paid manager fancy coaching Australia?
"I haven't made any decisions yet," he said. "It's a bit hard to make any decisions now, this is where my attention is.
    "But you never say never."
Herbert could earn upwards of $1 million coaching club teams overseas, compared with his $50,000 salary for coaching the All Whites part-time and an estimated $200,000 for Wellington Phoenix.
His contract with the national side ends after the World Cup, although he has signed with the Phoenix for another A-League season.
Herbert said other coaches at the World Cup "must laugh" at his $50,000 salary. "They are no different to me, but they're getting $1.5m and will get no points."
Herbert is also in discussions with New Zealand Football about extending his role as All Whites coach.
Key to whether he remains is the programme NZF sees the All Whites having during the next few years and whether his club – the Phoenix at this stage – would let him remain coaching at both club and international level.
He also has a family to factor in when considering overseas opportunities, with two children in their final year of school in Wellington.
Phoenix owner Terry Serepisos said he wanted to keep his star coach. "Ricki's a pretty humble, down-to-earth guy and I would be very surprised if he wants to leave New Zealand.
"If he gets some offers we will sit down and deal with it."

I must admit that I decided to sleep in and only watched the last 30 minutes of the game after watching England qualify last night.

I dont think he did a good enough job in our first game against Germany fielding a team that was underdone. OK I accept that it probably wasn't worth playing Harry for the full game given his injury worries and the desire to play him in the next two games, but not at all and to stick Cahill in forward as striker was just silly.

In the end though I think he has plans to be off regardless of what we think.

I agree. It would be good if he could continue on with NZ but if he has too move I WANT HIM HERE

Ah yep, Only Australia, New Zealand and Canada call it Soccer. To the rest of the world it is Football. Come to a Glory match and call it soccer in front of the Poms. It is true football, AFL as much as I like it should be called pass the ball lately.

It was the upper classes who play rugby that gave it the name "soccer" to distinguish it from egg-chasing. You need to sort your head out mate - if you have a grievance with the British, at least come out with it and don't make a fool of yourself under some other guise.

Refereeing has been shocking - but claims that they favour the "big" teams are way off. Did anyone see Kaka's sending off for Brazil? Although Italy's penalty vs NZ was soft, to say the least, not many people have voiced their objections about New Zealand's goal, which was offside. Still, I'm glad it went unnoticed. Refereeing has been terrible for the last few years and seems to be getting worse. Sometimes it comes as a result of instructions from FIFA for refs to stick rigidly to their edicts ie: Kewell being sent off. It probably was a penalty because it hit enough of his arm to stop it going in but the pen was punishment enough. The refs are having their own discretionary powers taken away from them by the idiots who run the game. Have a look at this for Kaka's 2nd yellow card:

the Ivory Coast player should be sent home for that piece of work

    Paraguay 0 - 0 New Zealand.

    Slovakia 3 - 2 Italy

Paraguay and Slovakia go through to the final 16.

Pretty ordinary game but we came out above Italy on the points table and we remain undefeated in the pool games.

Well I'm not so embarrassed by our loss to Germany now with them having pulled yet another 4 goal haul, this time against arguably a much better opposition. Hey Australia restricted them to 4 goals whilst playing with only 10 men.

Germany are my tip for the title this year.

Yes, I think so also. However, the NZ bookies don't back this one...

Germany vs Spain: NZ TAB are paying NZD2.70 for a win against Spain but are paying NZD2.50 for Spain to win... interesting.

To win the World Cup: Spain are paying NZD2.85 to win the tournament while Germany and Netherlands are NZD3.00 to win the cup. Uruguay are paying NZD12.00...
