    Interim Job...yay or nay?

Out of the blue earlier tonight, I got offered a plum job with Toyota, more specifically a service manager at a major dealership. I'm a qualified mechanic, took over in the manager guise when necessary, but did my minimum time and moved on due to ****ty wages n conditions. I already have a great job lined up up north prior to moving, but this was randomly dropped in my lap for reasons I cannot explain. I never looked into it, never applied and had no interest in...I left the industry on my terms. Someone (who I suspect) has put in a good word without asking me 1st.

The job's closer, pays better, has better hours, more responsibility, and is in an industry I'd washed my hands of in disgust a while back.

There's a few catches before I consider this job offer, first and foremost...

#1 is that I hate Toyota above every marque out there due to their insistance on producing white-goods on 4 wheels. They don't drive or handle in excellent means, and they have lost the plot with their new 4x4's. Everything smacks of mass producing average vehicles which do the job, technological overkill, yet lack any emotion, individuality or a sense of identity.

#2 and probably the most personal is that neither me or any of my family have ever bought Japanese anything on principle after what they did to our family during the war. I make no apologies for that comment...

#3 is that asides from my personal bias, I have found them unpleasant to work upon, often making obvious parts due for attention difficult to access. They appear to be made to a time-limit unless you can be bothered.

#4 is that I have no real faith, loyalty in the product whatsoever. I haven't heard a friend or someone else who hasn't had a legitimate complaint about whatever vehicle from Toyota...even from the militant loyalists.

The lures and attractive means are set in place, but do I take it or not? The fellas I've worked with and those who I worked under say hell yes, but... I have different industry and career ambitions, yet somehow get singled out for this n smacks of wtf...

It's going against my principles, morals, ambitions, etc, but has good solid prospects and a career in its own right. Advice welcome fellas, cos I'm weighing up my principles v my wallet atm.

The old saying goes something like (apologies for incorrect replication)...

"If you enjoy what you do for a job you'll never have to work a day of your life" or similar.

Swings and roundabouts. It is all about weighting of your listed preferences.

Number one. Depending on how your stated dislike towards these products is manifest, it will not go unnoticed and you will eventually be called upon to either explain or worse.

Number two on your list talks of purchasing japanese goods but does it go so far as taking their yen/AUD

In answer to your original question.... nay!

I already have a great job lined up up north
Says it all really... pack the land rover and head north. Sounds like a great job with exciting new prospects and adventures. All the best!

    will it make you happy?
job satisfaction is worth more than money.

big paying job = toys on the weekend to relieve the stress and anger from work.
Helps, but still have to go back on monday. Stress affects health, relationships, mood, decision making = MISERY

A job your happy with = NO stress, satisfied feeling, nice to be around, easy going manner, = HAPPY

Don't need the dollar, because you don't need the toys, because you don't need to escape life. you're happy ALL week, not just weekends and you look forward to work on monday.

Ah, Utopia...... wonder where I can find it?

It wont take long for you to become disillusioned again if you do.

If toyota Australia get found out doing any of the things that US toyota was up to then I wouldnt want to be anywhere near the place.
