    Talking the talk

My wife is in hospital at the moment.
A few times I have been there when my young Bro and his Lady visits.
He can talk the leg of a dead cow ( always could ), within minutes
he has everyone in the ward talking away as if they had all been mates for years, on and on without stop !!!

I could never do that, after a minute or two with strangers I am speechless. Of course I am a loner and rather reclusive and when people
try to engage me in conversation, I point to my ears and shake my head,
After a couple of tries they give up and once again I am left in peace.
I think that in in a past life I must have been a Drover, old tin miner
or a prospector. In fact with the whiskers and wrinkles, when I spot
myself in a mirror, I must say that I do look familiar, as if I had seen a pic of me in an old book or something.
I dont have any friends as such but I have no touble talking to Bro.
    I am very boring !!!

I even have trouble talking to myself, after a few minutes I run out of things to say to me, then there is an embarrising silence untill I reherse
    something else to say.

I dont envy anyone who has conversational skills but I do wonder how they manage it ?
Anyone else like me out there ?

    Cheers I think.
    Robert.

Well there's another thing we have in common. I dont believe in talking for the sake of talking.

One on one I run out of things to say pretty quickly unless we have a common interest. In large groups I am pretty much hopeless. I generally find small talk pointless, even tedious.

Some people really have gift of the gab, and can talk to anyone about anything, easily and naturally. I don't at all, and have to actually try and think about what to say next!

    Its all good, everyone's different.

Try to find someone in the room with a common interest. If you have the interest you can always find the motivation to strike up a conversation.
