not a really political person but i am pretty much with mr blknight...
both side are being hypocrites..
how many leaders of political parties have we had since the last election 5?
Here is a really radical idea that might be too controversial for some people to handle.
Maybe a lot of politicians are genuine, honest, hardworking people just like you and me. They are in politics because they want to make Australia a better place, in the same way that some people who could command a higher salary in some other occupation choose careers like nursing or teaching because they get some satisfaction from improving other people's lives.
They spend most of their time trying to do the right thing. Sometimes circumstances beyond their control make it difficult for them to achieve as much as they would like. Sometime they make mistakes, just like you and I do.
In spite of the fact that they are highly principled people, they accept that in the real world compromise is often necessary. They realise that they can't achieve much if they aren't preselected, elected and in government, so sometimes they have to do things they would prefer not to have to do in order to be in a position to improve Australia.
I like to think that such a world exists outside the pages of Incisor's Little Golden Books. :)
Yep,
Krudds biggest problem was he and his cronies, just sat down and said "Geez we can milk this cow a bit harder, most of the country will support us because they dont work in mining". " This will make us look good and solve all our buget issues, too easy". "We wont bother consulting anyone".
Well it backfired big time, didnt it. If people dont work in the industry, a majority have some sort of ties to it wether it be family or friends, suppliers or contractors.
The whole and basic point they missed was consultation. I dont think the mining companies are totally against paying their fair share, just like anyone else they like to be asked and kept informed, not dictated too.
And it was not just Krudd, but the Labour party as a whole.
hahahaha touché
Of course I'd be a very unwilling participant, but my country calls (isn't that the way to say it ?)
Inc, that world exists here, why do you think I live in Upper Cumbucta West ? :D
Most everyone here is nice, no trying to keep up with the Joneses (at least not too much....)
I don't have to put up with the aggro of the city, 'cept when the salespeople and reps from the big multi-nationals call..... :(
and I loved Golden Books when I was little, how'd that tune you were singing go again ?
