    New Style Credit Card Scam

    Received this email today warning of a new credit card scam, at first I thought it was a hoax but after reading it again I'm not so sure.

    HHMMM i would ring the visa or mastercard as the 3 digit number on the back of the card is not a pin number it is a security number needed to verify you have the card when making purchases over the phone or internet but all they need is your card no to purchase over the internet or phone because many sellers dont ask for it.
    BUT AS A RULE DONT GIVE ANY NUMBERS TO ANYONE THAT RINGS YOU

    The email is a hoax (see http://www.snopes.com/crime/warnings/creditcard.asp and http://urbanlegends.about.com/librar...card_fraud.htm). It and similar emails have been circulation for the last few years. However, it is harmless.

    My dad heard a similar story about the number on the back and refused to give it when he went to order over the phone the seller refused the transaction one of the good ones i suppose

    There is already a thread with the same letter its a fake the letter has been scaned onto a AFP letterhead but just the same no one from visa or mastercard will ring and ask for any numbers that part is correct
