Who's the Rangie Driver in Today's Melbourne Hearaldsun?

The was a pic of a green Rangie Classic in today's Melbourne HeraldSun newspaper.
It was taken in the Glenwaverley area.
The heading was Victoria Polices crazyiest drivers. The rangie was top loaded with reo sheets and ties down at the front to the headlights?
    Hopefully no one from here

Is it actually illegal? How wide is a sheet of reo? Didn't look pretty but he did have heaps of 'flags' on it.

Not sure of the Vic rules, but you are only allowed 150mm outside the widest point of the the body line (not mirrors) in the sunny state.

A standard sheet of reo is 2400 IIRC, but they do make a narrow (2000) sheet.

Forget the width and other excuses ...... there were 2 mains issues with this idiot.

    1. The wire was strapped down so it curved down over the windscreen and extended past the bonnet and tied down near the head lights. Obscured view for the driver .... a big no no ...

    2. The end of the mesh sticking out past the bonnet/lights had all the cut pieces exposed which if he struck a pedestrian or cyclist would cause serious damage .... dangerous and dumb .....

This bloke/woman is either stupid or just plain pathetic, you take your pick. I hope the coppers that pulled him over gave him a barb wire pull through ....

I'm not condoning the action, but:
The language is a bit alarmist. "A pedestrian could have been decapitated." I don't think the pedestrian would have been concerned too much because the rest of his body would be a pulpy mass in the grill of a Range Rover.
Anyway, we all won't be concerned about decapitation when the asteroid hits.
I hardly think the mesh obscured the drivers view. I have seen finer mesh used in an automotive accessory designed as a windscreen stone guard.

Check out the herald sun web site and have a look at these othersa, A mC with the BBQ, the truck with the pole and the coomodore with the boat in the boot, the 5 matresses and the bloke that got fined more than if he had paid the retailer delivery charge. It might be a laugh and amusing but these idiots really should not be on the road.
This is here in Australia and happening on a road somewhere near you...
