That would be Ron's truck - I think it's the only one like it in Australia - ther eis another one coming out in September - Charlie Aaron with a Unicat camper.

Both are huge - Ron's is 3.9m tall.

This is Ron's travelogue of his Australian Trip:

    re: Unimog campers

Mercedes Unimog Extreme Off road 4x4 (eBay item 150568191747 end time 06-Mar-11 16:05:10 AEDST) : Cars, Bikes, Boats This is the ebay link for an older (1965 mog camper)

I'd grab it in a sec if I was in a better financial position.

But this is definately the way I'm looking to go in the near future. Cheer guys looks like a great forum.

I think that model runs on petrol. One of the first things I would do is rip that out and go with a diesel.

I'd love one, but even with the high revving petrol engine they only do 90kph. what type of truck style deisel would be happy doing a constant 5000rpm to enable the truck to actually get anywhere. Better to rip the axles out and slap them under a 101 or 130 camper conversion.

There may have been a factoryor aftermarket overdrive for the 404 models but I doubt it, and at any rate they'd be like rocking horse manure. No alternative diff or portal box ratios either.Torque tube axle location pivoting from gearbox makes it difficult to fit an external overdrive box.
