Offender90 and I had a similar experience. He drained a petrol tank in my shed, then 24 hrs later I turned on the bore pump (bore is under the shed floor). 40 kg bore cover shot up 2m in the air.

2L of aloe vera gel later and I was feeling OK - apart from looking like an olympic cyclist.
    Autsch!

Thats why I filled my pit in. Gas/fumes will lay low.

    I'm a bit shocked now actually.:confused

Cant believe I got done at my own house.

I have a black dog too!

And on the subject of flying pit covers......... wasn't the first man made object placed in orbit a manhole cover that got blown there during A bomb testing in the US during WW2? Supposedly still being tracked in orbit?

    cheers, DL

The flamin mutt is fine, bit timid for some reason

Lucky my wife and older daughter was in away for the night in Sydney. May have been them that got caught out and could have been much worse.

OK, here is what may have happened. The BBQ was apparently only turned off at the bottle and not at the burners. The Dog was working at the fat tin and some may have splashed over the gas bottle. The dog then licks and chew at the tap and cracked it on a tad. Being a cool still night the LPG hung around as we have a retaining wall on one side and a return wall on the house two sides. The light was a 500w halogen Jobie, must have arked on the end of the globe.
Thinking back, I could smell the LPG a little but all happen at once. eg, I opened the door and hit the light together.

Bit of broken glass and a few things got torched. Haven't found the lid off the BBQ yet Not sure what to tell my wife when she gets home.... Hi honey, I blew up the BBQ She will freak out a bit, that's for sure.
Have to laugh now, My missus tried to renovate the garage with the MJ a wile back Now I have tried to blow it up! Thats one all.
The insurance mob seem OK, had to write a statement etc. If the house had burnt down may have been treated as suspicious though. Not sure if they want to interview the dog yet
Turn your gas appliances off properly in future and this wouldn't happen

Can't understand why people own dogs other than working and guard dogs. No ****** use at all in a modern society. All they do is turn dog food into dog poo. Dogs are less useful than horses which do still receive a little use as a working animal even though they became obsolete about 1930.

I don't understand why people continue with archaic babble from yesteryear either, which became practically obsolete around the same era
