If the Iphone4 is nearly tick approved, does that only include the data side or both.

The old iphones only transmit data in nextg not the phone site,

it might be worth looking at if they use phone for nextG as well now

Got a 3G iPhone when they 1st came out after years of Nokia and was sold straight away.

Have had the opportunity since then to use a Blackberry in favour of the iPhone for work purposes but steadfastly refused in favour of my Apple! I loathe Blackberrys with a passion due to their complex features and small and lousy qerty keypads.

The only small issue I have with the 3G iPhone is that I cannot live video which has proven essential for business/teleconference and "look-at-what-I-am-talking-about" purposes when I had a Nokia.

But.......bought the latest iPhone4 on the web over a month ago already unlocked and am just as convinced of there errr....greatness And I can live Video - Coooool

I'm enjoying the Apple products and am staring to be swayed from Microsoft to a Mac however, the iPads are just dumb and a marketing ploy......Oh please - they are just a big iPhone for crying out loud

    Cheers!

Whilst I can't totally disagree on your comments about the iPad I really think that Apple has delivered the first, mass market, usable slim, tablet PC. Don't get me wrong, I won't be rushing out to buy one as my 13" MacBook Pro is much better at present and the iPad doesn't do what I need. What I want to see is where Apple and the other's go with this over the next few years. To me it is simply the tip of the ice berge of what the future holds.

Good to hear what everyone's findings are of the iPhone4. Mine's on order, 2 to 3 weeks I'm told. Waited for the 4 to come out.

Yep just like 98% of Australia is Though NextG with a car kit can give a fair range from the town cell.

Ahh I envy your location! Spent 2.5 years in Darwin and would relocate in a heart beat. Being a North Queenslander originally, I just love the tropics and the country!!

BTW - did you know that Telstra market a pretty cool Sat-Phone that uses local cell coverage when you are in the 'net' but auto switches to satellite once you lose the 3G network? Sounds like a bloody handy bit of kit if you spend time out bush!
    Cheers mate

No wasn't aware of one. I have a Telstra/Iridium 9555 SatPhone though and it works very well all around the country. I've got a feeling a NextG SIM will work in it though but it's still a SatPhone only.

I'll get some information for you - seems to me to be a better option than carrying 2 phones! (As I did during my stint in the NT although the Govt paid for the Iridium call costs )
