The line couldn't have been far away if that was all they quoted. A mate has a block at Toogoolawah and was quoted a lot more than that over 10 years ago. His block is the first up a side road and the power line was on the main road and connected to his neighbour on that side whose block fronts the main road. A few years later a cheap subdivision of 5 & 10 acre blocks was done further up his road on rubbish land, beno blocks as we called them at DSS. Council insisted that power be reticulated as a condition of approval. The authority then condescended to hook him up for considerably less. "No, thanks", said he. "I have spent money on a generator and solar system and you can put your proposal in a dark moist place unless it is free". Eventually he got the power connected for the same outlay as a city client, just pay a deposit.
