Congrats Phoenix good thing you've got a decent back seat now.
Just one question: I've been a midwife for 30 years (+ a nurse for 36 years) and I've never weighed a baby in lbs, ever. Can you explain the 8lb for me?![]()
No offense to anyone, but it bugs me, we buy everything in metric, yet babies we all convert to imperial. Our children will never have any concept of what a pound is, yet we continue this archaic system just because that's what they did in Captain Cooks era and it is what our great grandmother remembers. (Inc. can you move this bit to "rants".)
You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Almost everybody I know refers to birth weights in pounds, and rainfall in inches. It is simply a matter of using units that enable comparison with previous measurements. And I suspect that in your case you only have to go back to your mother not your great grandmother to find someone who uses birth weights in pounds.
But while you are about it, why not extend your rant to include the use of weight when you really mean mass? After all, the use of the more correct term was specified at the same time as metric units, yet there are still people who use weight when they mean mass.
