    Re-chipping a Tdi Defender

I searched high and low on the net but could only find stuff relating to the TD5's.

Therefore I have done this tutorial to show others how to re-chip their Tdi Defenders (should also work for Discos) to take advantage of the latest technological advancements.

The photos are all taken from the RHS of the vehicle (cab is to the left of frame) - so that you are oriented.

Photo 1: Location of old chip.
Photo 2: Removing old chip is relatively easy.
Photo 3: Comparison of old chip and new "microchip".
Photo 4: The new "microchip" in place and ready to go.
Photo 5: The manufacturer has allowed for variations in dimensions in Land Rover Defenders (no two are the same) by supplying a number of various sizes of chips in the pack.

I'll do a road test later.

    Edit:

Road test result: Chip fell off. Back to the drawing board.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

Couldn't you just convert the original conventional chip into micro chips? Oh I see that's where the hammer comes in.

Hi Vlad, did you practise proper Electro-Static Discharge precautions whilst handling the chip?? Perhaps this could be your problem. Also, you may find using some thermal transfer paste could help your problem with the chip not staying in place.

    Cheers,
