The second pics looks like a small branch off the same tree as in the first pic.

The third one looks like it could be off the same tree the second one is off.

In addition to what has also been said, what is the underside of the leaf like (same as top, what colour, rough, etc)? What do the leaves smell like when you crush them in your hand? Are there any larger specimens growing near by (ie do you know how big it grows)?

If I had to have a guess on what very little info we have I would say it is a Laurel of some sort, but there are more than 2000 species in the family (Lauraceae) though not any where near that many in cultivation.

    Cheers

It would appear not to be deciduoius, as it has plenty of leaves now (sob-tropical Brisbane) and has had through the cold spell. The leaves range from a waxy sheened deep green to a reddish purple. The leaves on the taller stalks are a lighter matt green, it seems to be a clumping plant, unless it has previously been chopped at ground level, and re-shot.

The first picture is the underside.
