    I should have known!

    This

happened on the way to Darwin at the end of June.

Insurance company recommended ****** Crash Repairs who duly gave quote (including replacement panel).

Returned to Nhulunbuy and got a second quote from **** Smash Repairs who also quoted with a replacement panel.

Vehicle went in for repair Monday 23 August (yesterday) and I get a phone call this afternoon saying the vehcile won't be ready for another 2 weeks because the assessor decided that the panel could be repaired and did not need to be replace. Naturally with a tear in the alloy and no alloy welder in town they were not able to repair it so today the assessor decided they could order a replacement panel - which will take two weeks to get here on the barge

Well at least I have access to other wheels in the mean time. Now where did I put Derek's phone number ...
