    Foreshore Camping - Victoria

    Hey guys,

I have never camped by the beach before, so was after some information.

I understand there are a fair bit of camping grounds/caravan parks along the mornington peninsula, but can you setup your tent on the beach or close to, without paying $$?

Also, any recommendations on what where you enjoy to camp by the beach, please feel free.

    Regards,

    Michael

Hi Michael,One of the places we go (The Boss, 3 kids and I) is called Reeve's Beach. It's just passed Yarram on the way to gippsland.FREE to camp, has a drop dunny and is dog friendly. You dont camp right on the beach, its just over one dune and you are onth beach at the western end of Ninety Mile Beach. There is no water on site so you will have to take you own,but Yarram is only 20 or so mins away, and on long weekends (Aust day,Easter etc) the local ranger does info walks along the beach for the kids.We find it one of the best beach side camping spots.

There's campng pretty much right along the foreshore from Dromana, right through to Sorrento,, it's not camping on the sand, but it's like a stones throw to the waters edge, and no,, it's not free.
In the summer, up untill after Easter, every man and his dog is there, but times other than that, people are few and far between. I think it's all council run,, there are various facilities there, but I can't tell you much more than that. I've never camped there as there's been so many people there, but some of the areas look good, and the beach isn't bad too,, good for kids I would think

2 best places I've found, are Lake wellington on the white shore, brackish lake on the beach and Jack Smiths....more for boozeheads who like to make big fires, motorbikes and be left alone
