Does it matter its having a recall????? if its super dangerous then we can gloat.... remember landys have had lots of recalls.... and yes the diffs are pos..... but damn the 200 series v8 diesel sound tough at full noise
Lets not bag the other brands and lower yourself to a toyota or nissan drivers level...
Speaking of recalls....
My march build VE ute has a tailgate fault where it will spring open for no reason.... holdens fix at this stage is make sure the tarp is on.... guess what???? mine has no tarp as i use it as a ute and the back is full of gas bottles and tools and ladder racks.....
I get alot of comments from people that i accually use my pretty ute with 18"alloys, leather and body kit..... yes it looks tough and i accually use it....

Yes but Toyota's seem to be recalled every other week. Just look at the papers. Yes I know they all don't concern their 4WD's but still a brand name recall for a company that "perceives" itself as "reliable". May be Land Rover could do the same. Perhaps they know their buyers enjoy "bonding" with their cars! I'm not bagging recalls, they are a good thing. I just don't like the way Toyotas are marketed and perceived.

Robbo.
Don't be fooled .
It's just that LR don't recall theirs.

Trust me,Tojo have quite a few skeletons in the closet. Pat
If it wasnt for all the bad press they got in the states they would be trying harder to keep this and all the others quiet.
Just out of interest, here is a link to the Australian Toyota recall notices (Toyota) and to the Land Rover notices (Land rover).

It's more than just the number,it's the type of recalls tojo are having, most are really serious faults.IMHO they push production to be the No.1 maker and the quality has suffered as a result. Pat
My take on it:
Toyota Official Press Release
08 September 2010
TOYOTA AUSTRALIA ANNOUNCES RECALL OF HILUX 4WD MODELS
Toyota Motor Corporation and Toyota Australia have initiated a safety recall on 116,507 four-wheel-drive petrol and turbo-diesel HiLux vehicles produced between January 2005 and February 2010 for the Australian market.
Hilux two-wheel-drive vehicles are not affected.
Condition:
In rural areas, if the vehicle is frequently accelerated or decelerated quickly on rough roads that feature normal outback conditions, the rear tail shaft centre bearing support brackets may give way along with engine mounts, gearboxes and chassis welds. These conditions include usual corrugations and cattle grid crossings.
Situation:
19 cases of the condition have been reported in Australia. One incident was reported. There were no injuries associated with this incident, but it has left a number of people stranded in remote areas.
Next steps:
This safety recall is a preventative action and owners must not continue to drive their vehicles as of reading this notice.
Toyota Australia believes owners and prospective customers will understand that this recall activity demonstrates the robust process undertaken by the company to investigate the issue, identify the cause and develop and implement the solution. Toyota also acknowledges the total lack of initial engineering, this recall displays, especially when considering the end pricing of the entire Hilux range.
Toyota recommends that these vehicles are not really suitable for operations in a rural area, and should only be driven in built up areas, where assistance is readily available, and must be equipped with nice shiney chrome 20inch pimp mags. As such, it is ultimately the responsibility of the end user to repair any fault which occurs to the vehicle in what Toyota considers adverse conditions i.e., outside of populous areas, and in contact with any mud, sand, dirt, dust and water.![]()
