We actually helped out a fellow from the bush (a complete stranger) and he gave us spare tickets for the trap shooting (which Michael Diamond won) and the 3-day Equestrian event. We went into Homebush Bay a few times and just checked out what tickets were available and ended up getting to some really interesting events.

We were also lucky enough to go to one of the rehearsals for the Opening Ceremony as some of our family were involved with the Pyrotechnics. Andrew was part of the huge team from Foti Fireworks and was involved in both the Opening and Closing Ceremonies for the Games.

Friends of ours hosted some of the Weightlifting team from Belarus and had an amazing time - even though there was a few communication issues

    The Volunteers were really wonderful.

I had dual roles, one from my job in NSW Health and was also a navaguesser on transport. People were supposed to know Sydney, but one of the guessers was a taxi driver from Frankfurt Germany. All a good time and the people who impressed me most were the paralympians! What some of them could do on a wheel chair was amazing.

Even got to hold one of the Olympic shooting gold medals, but not Michael's!

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

I had to work..smack bang in the middle of it...all leave cancelled...no days off.....dealing with a public that could not understand some of our extreme security measures...the same public that stood gobsmacked 12 months later when 2 planes flew into the WTC.

One of my Taxi customers here in Warragul is a Quadraplegic member of the Australian Shooting team. I ended up being the team driver for the Paras.

I saw the handball and hockey, and was a painter/dancer in the Paralympic opening ceremony. I really really needed to pee that night! Also for the months leading up to it I gave tours around the site to school groups and foreign tourists, which kept my mate and I away from school legitimately a couple of times a week!

Fantastic experience. And the site is still useful, I go to Big Day Out and various concerts every year there.
