    Grand Cherokee 2011

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dnF-LpBZFqY]YouTube - First Drive: 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee[/ame]

Youtube link to review of Grand Cherokee 2011 with Land Rover style electronic drive selection knob technology air suspension that raises the body

Though being produced by Chrysler now owned by FIAT the development work was undertaken when Chrysler was owned by Daimler Benz and apparently the Grand Cherokee is based on the Mercedes off road M series body.

Prices for Australia not announced but expected to be cheaper than Discovery

Motor in USA either a 3.6 or 5 litre v8 with the electronic shut down system

Wonder how many people going to be saying that they wont take a Jeep off road in the outback as it is packed with electronic gimmicky and lack of dealer support in the out back.

If l had the cash would probably buy one

I think its probably one of the best looking jeeps they have made. Would be good with the turbo diesel they use in the wranglers.

Im curious to see the price cause they would want to be alot cheaper than an SE TDV6 disco 4 in order for me to buy one as opposed to be shelling out a bit more for the disco.

It's only one report, will be interesting to see how it stacks up after serious testing and scrutiny (outside the US)....and time.

"Go anywhere any LR will go".....pretty bold statement in my biased opinion.....LOL

Yep great looking unit that handles for a change. If it went well on the beach and modest tracks, didnt break at the firewall, and towed a 2 tonn boat like a breeze - all of which it should do easily - I would consider one seriously if I was going new again.

    Cheers

PS. A Disco would kill it off road...that video shows typical GC lack of wheel articulation particularly in the front, but at both ends.

    But only at 135KPH!
(Which just happens to be above the statute limit in all States and the Territory.)

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

    HaHa...love it!

I was thinking about them and the power and torque (which it has is spades) and a nice ride and thought...mmmm...then I thought what AM I saying! I am planning a Telegraph Road Cape trip and the D2 would eat it...the Jeep...well..wouldnt even try and if it did make it it would be heart in the mouth stuff. Then I thought well, on the beach it should go well...and then I thought...well, know there are part of a very chopped up beach and beach wash out crossings where wheel travel makes for traction and a nice ride...and after all that thought I thought....who the hell am I kidding (this is the long version of the above comment) and then I thought...bloody hell...they have had so many structural and parts problems its insane...that does not necessarily change with a new shape and just cause its built on the Merc platform...which is in fact a Chrysler platform...

    Cheers
