    WILDLY varying locker prices

Getting Lockers for my 130 in the next week or so, as i have mentioned in another thread. Decided on Detroit rear and truetrac front. My voluntary redundancy payout was delayed a fortnight my mongrel employer, so I took another look at prices while I am waiting. Had originally talked to Bayswater diffs (referred there by detroit importers) with a good price of $850ish front, $1000ish rear unfitted.
I went to call local Op Lock store, but they were engaged all day, so called next nearest one. Very similar prices quoted to Bayswater Diffs.

Finally got onto local store expecting similar prices, and planning to buy local, but prices are nearly double for the truetrac and 50% dearer for the Detroit. He referred me to the company website prices of $1350ish per end needed price update to around $1450 per end
I rang back other store to confirm quote, told him of other price, and yes, will do them for $845 front/$1000 rear.

Now, this isn't a bitch about our local store. The limited dealings I have had have been A1, but how can prices vary SO much between franchises less than 100km apart

Granted, i have never ran a business, but both places have similar freight from Melbourne, so am baffled by this.

Yep a Detroit auto locker from the USA for my D1 cost me about $650 including $50 freight last year from memory. Took a week to arrive. BIL and I fitted it. The difference is the local markup.

Hmmmmm...I like the cut of your Gib. Go directly to the company, or through a distributor in the states?
