Hi Scott,

I had a quick look at this excellent site provided by the Land and Property Management Authority

Put in your Lot and DP number in the "Take me to" section and make sure the "cadastrel features" box is ticked in the "Show Themes" section.

It looks to me as if the access to each property is within each of the titles and there is no evidence of a reserve for Lanhams road.

Unless there is a covenent preventing it I don't see why you can't fence your property at the boundary.

The solicitor should have the answer.

back to the discussion on tank water quality. Several years ago we found a dead rat in one of our two concrete tanks and checked up what we should do. We were told to dose it with a lot of swimming pool chlorine which is what we did then ran on Just the other tank for the next 12 months-- We have two concrete tanks thankfully, and the overflow of the clean one ran into, and filled up with water the one with the dead rat. much later when we changed tanks the water was okay to drink with no chlorine taste.

Chlorine smell will disapate after a fair while. But probably chlorine could not be used in your steel tank as it would cause rust.

Suggest you put in an extra small plastic or concrete tank and run of that for a while while any nasties in old tanks settle out. But I am not sure that you need to empty your old tanks.

So there is already a lot of trees/shrubs there? How about some beautification treatment with the cheapest colourful flowered plant available planted where access might be made, so minimal loss if he does enforce his right of way?
Once/if the flowers have been left undisturbed for a year, put something more significant in that will require a few hours work to gain access, nature will gradually retake its place with a little subtle help.

Mr Happy next door has already drained the concrete tank for us. He just doesn't know that I know he has.
The steel tank near the house looks relatively new so we should be OK with that one for a while.
I'll be setting up another tank or two for back up as well shortly after moving in.

That would be the easiest way but I need something a bit more solid to keep the dog & Little Scouse in. Actually, the dog's OK, it's just for L.S. ;).

If I work it right, he'll have access but it will be painful for him to do so. I would like to put the gate on an angle somehow so that he needs to do a 3 point turn to get through to my driveway :).

Thanks Mahn. I can only access the 'Lite' version at work so I'll have a look at the main one tonight.

I'm meeting the solicitor tomorrow morning so hopefully I'll have a positive outcome.

the water in the tanks will be well settled and clear so it would be a good candidate for chlorination. Otherwise just boil any water you will be drinking beforehand. Roof water is always risky to drink:o

It goes through 3 filters before reaching the house but I've never had any problems with straight rainwater in the past anyway.

My dad is on tankwater & there's a nice tank that's lovely to drink from near my shed :). Straight out of the tap & it tastes great.

While the tanks are empty I would get in there and clean them out. Have you done any work to the pool yet?
