Discovery gear onto / into Defender

    Hi All,
    looking for some advice...
I am considering buying a Disco so I can transfer alloys, front seats and the auto gearbox etc into a Defender...
Does anyone know if this is viable? and if so, maybe some tips?
    Thanks in advance.

A bit more info would help, like year makes and models.
    Anyway, it's a D1 I assume?
D1 you can should be able to use the alloys, no probs.
Auto gearbox can be used, there's plenty of Defenders with R380's from D1's in them, plenty of auto conversions too.
What year Deefer and what's in it now? An LT77?

Seats may be a bit fiddly, and you may have to make another base frame, but I'm guessing on that one.

Assuming you are talking D1 and 300Tdi defender, then Alloys and auto will fit fine - assuming 300Tdi D1. Not sure about seats.

V8 disco - forget the auto swap.

    TD5 to TD5 - alloys won't fit the defender.

I find that very hard to believe. The gear lever on a disco R380 and a Defender R380 are in a completely different place. If you installed a disco R380 in a defender, the gear lever would be where the cubby box is. It is not simple to swap levers over either.

OK, here's the situation... I travelled with my now wife all through QLD, NSW and VIC in a ex army S3 a couple of years back (yes, she still married me after the trip...) Since then, the old girl (S3...) has been sold, and a more wife friendly '03 GU Patrol has been bought. Don't get me wrong, the GU is a great truck, I have absolutely no complaints, well actually only two... it is not a Landy and nobody waves to a Patrol

After some badgering, (some call it badgering) she is convinced I should get another Landy.
So I am on the lookout fo my ideal tourer: a 130 dual cab Tdi

So you see, a bit of good advice could take me a long way!
