Dame Joan Sutherland died, a great lost

It is a sad news that we have lost Dame Joan Sutherland
Perhaps the voice of the century, a great Australian a great person.
Libiamo, Libiamo from Verdi’s opera La Traviata in duet with Pavarotti is among my favourites duets.
    RIP Joan Sutherland, “La Estupenda”

Yes. RIP Dame Joan. She was a unique talent, although from my personal point of view, I was not so keen on her style of repertoire.

She was fortunate to meet her husband Richard Bonynge, who saw the unique potential of her voice, and its potential in the Italian "Bel Canto" repertoire. Without his influence she could have gone on to become a singer of Wagner, and other more dramatic styles, and in this, I am not sure that she would have been so successful.

    A great career indeed.

    Cheers,

    Lionel
