Woke up this morning ( Saturday ) in Lithgow and tiny hail balls were flying fast at a 45 degree angle .... then 10 mins later we had intermittent snow flakes .... then 10 mins later some sunshine with tiny hail balls again. It was literally 15 weather events going all at once!

The wife and I jump in the car at 9am and head toward Katoomba ... going through Browns Gap we are hit with a complete white out blizzard with winds gusting so hard the now maple leaf sized snow flakes are literally blowing horizontally! We were pretty much in the ski fields of NSW all of a sudden!

As we were heading up Victoria Pass on the final sharp bend ... out of the white out we see two people in the middle of the road frantically waving their arms and I gently yanked the anchors to see two cars smashed up in the middle of the road on the bend .... damn!

There was one copper on the scene who was checking on the occupants as the acky had just happened. A few cars were already banked on the opposite side of the road and we passed slowly between the wrecks and moved on to Katoomba through the white out. As we reached Mt Victoria we passed about 4 Fire engines going towards the pass, two Ambo's and 1 Bush Fire truck.

When we got to Katoomba it was still snowing on and off all day amidst the sunshine ... we were told there was another acky just after we passed through Mt Vic! Thing is, tourists come up from Sydney ( Weekenders ) having no experience of the roads or the conditions and take it for granted ... we have accidents like these every weekend but today's weather was exceptional!

Beautiful day up in the Mtns apart from that ... made for a Christmas like atmosphere.

    Tiki.

Friday was just plain unpleasant - rain and strong wind all day, but only 20mm. Saturday was cold and windy but mostly fine - a few flurries, one (of course) just as I came to a gate - and it had some sleet in it!

So far the only damage I have found is a tree down across a fence. Today has started clear and sunny and cold, and fortunately, the wind has dropped.

I had been running the woodpile down, but with this event forecast, on Tuesday afternoon I went and got a small load of wood. Had the fire going since Thursday night!

It was snowing Just out of Murrumbateman on the way in to Canberra at 08:00 yesterday Morning, we only had about 14mm Friday and a few showers yesterday. Cold and windy though.
Today is dry with scattered clouds, still a cold wind though.

Woke up at 6am to go to work, headed off to work at 6:30am, opened the door and the cold hit me. It was raining all day friday but I still wore a shirt all day, couldnt believe the change overnight.

Then on the way to work it was snowing, snowed all morning till around midday, here is a pic of mount panorama mid morning. Imagine race day with this

    Yep Great weather!
We had rain all Friday sleet non stop Saturday, big winds till this morning. Been on and off spitting and a hint of sun today.
Took me Ages to get home Friday night with the accident and a friend ringing to say help as their car had sunc out on their farm driveway! It went down so far you couldn't open the doors on the passenger side.

Then fun with bub up at Yass hospital and an ambo ride to Canberra late Friday just in time for the fire alarms to go off at Canberra Hospital.
