245 is a lot of kays,,
it would want to be very cheap--
After the unfortunale events of last weekend, when I wrote off the D2, I have the opportunity at a D2A. Body is a bit rough, but not too bad, it has an ARB bar, Warn 9000lb winch and a UHF antenna (no actual radio).
I have lockers and all that out of the old one which will go straight in...
Carsales.com.au indicates about $25-28k for one with about 180k on it. This one has 245k but has a full service record and most of the k's are country (surveyors car). I know the mechanic who has been servicing it since 07.
Opinions please

I know 245k seems a lot. What I failed to mention is that the transmission was only just replaced... and I mean it has only done 50km (literally) since the replacement was fitted. It also has a 2" lift with near new Koni's all round, dual batteries etc. there are 3 near new AT's on it as well.
My old car had done similar k's and was running perfectly.
It seems that I can pick up this car for about $8,000 which does give some room to spend a bit here and there if required.

With a new gearbox $8000 is a steal. My 99TD5 has 250000ks on it,stronger now than the day it left the factory.

Like Pedro I would say the kilometres are high but if you have a good knowledge of what it has done and a mechanic who can tell you the last 3 years history then at that price (not knowing all your circumstances) then it would be worth considering seriously.

Well, after a bit of thought, and considering I have lockers ready to fit pls a few other things, I've decided to take a chance on this one. It looks like I'll get around $16k for the writeoff so really, even if there are a few issues, there's room to fix a few things.
I'll post some pics when I can figure it out (bit of a dummy in this regard) and then you can all tell me what a dickhead I am, but i figure that paying $8k for a vehicle with an insurance value of $25 can't be a really bad thing.... not that I'm looking to do a repeat performance!
I hope to have the lockers fitted and be back in action and on the tracks within a couple of weeks![]()

I have seen very hopeful individuals on carsales etc trying to get $20k plus for D2a models with well over 200km on the clock. Couple on there right now. $22k and $22.5k
$8k is loose change for that kind of truck
Enjoy!!!
Michael
If you dont buy it PM me the guys details, i'll buy it for that price..
Cheers Ean
Thanks for all the replies guys. The deal is done. Getting a RWC organised this week. As soon as that is done, the lockers will go in and I'll go shopping for some decent spotties to grace the bullbar and get the whole thing detailed (the interior really is filthy, but apart from the dirt is in really good nick). One good thing is that there are 4 Rhino roof bars on it as well so I'll have somewhere to mount the new LED worklights from Slug_Burner that arrived in the mail this morning.
The insurance payout ended up at $14,500 which considering a bit of a scrape right down the LHS (every panel was touched)from a bog hole incident 18 months ago and 245km on the clock is pretty fair I think.
As soon as I get it all cleaned up, I'll post pics of my bargain![]()

Sounds like a good deal.
That way when you fix stuff, you know what you have done and do it right.
On ya mate.
