    what are people reading

I can't do it anymore, another issue of 4x4 Action, it's toyo, nissan, toyo, nissan, and advertising.

I had been subscribing and I pulled my last issue out the other night, pulled the plastic off and started reading "the ultimate tuff tourer".
To my surprise they did include a Defender, but as usual it ended up being the trusty old land cruiser followed by a hilux who took the honours.
In typical action style, looking for a tourer they included a defender shorty which was its failing, a patrol ute, which was its failing, a bombed patrol which was its failing, but the modified land cruiser was just magic. Of course it was not a ute, a shorty, a common rail which was the jeeps failing, but
the common rail on the hilux's was just an awesome power plant. I just about puked and can't even finish the article.

So is there a dedicated Landy mag? or what are people reading besides 4x4 action.

Just finished the latest Acme publication, "Essential Time Machine electronics for the Novice 101" - I recommend it. But my loo is full of Land Rover International - Pommy LR mag. Your newsagent should carry it.

Land Rover Owners International has some good stuff, and although predominately pomme, has about as much Aussie content as 4x4 action has LR content

Was just going thru some old 4x4 mags on the boat, and found 1 with Slunnie's D2 in it ..

But lets face L/R dont do themselves any favours, they and there Dealers leave alot to be desired in some cases, so people get sick of it and want Toyota/ nissan whatever and that sells Mags..

Its a business guys, just look in the back and see the monthly/ yearly sales figures, of course these other brands are going to dominate..

    Cheers Ean

I subscribe to 4X4 Australia. They give a fair coverage of LR vehicles.

See posts 29 and 30 here.

yes they have had a couple Discos lately and a Defer, but that's my dismay with the mag.
They do a write up on someones modified LR wagons, but come time for a comparison like the one I have mentioned they get a 90. But do they get a short wheel base Toyota. No instead it's there beloved holy grail of toyotas, the 80 series.

Some of the 4x4 action stuff if ok, but they bang on they know 4x4's, and do comparisons, but are usually missing half the field or brands.

Like the tyre comparo, it was no surprise BF Goodwrich was going to take it out. Only about 5 brands involved, and with Goodwrich holding the first page spread for as long as I can recall it was a forgone conclusion.

    Jason,
Did you read posts from the link in my previous post? Although the title says "4X4 action" post 29 and 30 as well as a few others are about 4X4 Australia.

Agree with land Rover Owner International, bought every edition from about 96 until a few years ago, then when I was at UNI it got to expensive, money was required for other things and havent bothered getting it. Was a very good magazine though.
