Cheap water tanks anyone know of where to get them

    Hi

I'm looking to put a water tank on the shed pref around 23/24000L does anyone know of a cheap tank place.

I have found one cheap place online..but thought I would try my luck on here too.

The tank will probably be poly..as that seems the cheapest from what have seen.

and of course need to have it delivered...can't imagine the boys in blue would appreciate one on the roof of the 110

Two brands I'd use are Team Poly, and Polymaster.

Polymaster are a nice unit, but pricey. Team Poly aren't alot cheaper, but they actually control most of the raw material in the country. Anyone making cheaper tanks here is quite possibly cutting corners, As they're most likely buying materials from TP to begin with.

If you go with TP, make sure you get one produced locally. Interstate ones will have the lids cut off for transport. (fitting tanks inside tanks, babushka doll style). Nothing structurally wrong with that, but can look untidy when they tek screw the lid back on.

Don't go by list price in the TP brochure. You should be able to pick up a 22,500ltr for $2200 - $2500, especially if you can wave some folding stuff.

I was just talking to a mate at work about this today & he just bought a 23,000 litre tank for $300 less than his first one three years ago. The manufacturer said that orders stopped coming in once the rain started & that prices may fall even further...

That's the opposite to what I'd expect! I'd personally think "Well there's lots of rain falling, let me catch some of that and save some cash.."

Good to know though, we'll hopefully be in a position to need a couple of big tanks very soon.

Don't necessarily go for cheap. The tanks we bought come with a long warranty 20 years I think.

Our mate bought 2 seconds about 4 years ago and both now have bubbles, one quite a large bulge, so much so that he emptied one and sunk it into the ground.

the reason the poly tanks are cheaper is that poly has come down in price, there is a local guy in my town that makes tanks 'poly tough tanks', is his company, his 25,000l tnaks have come down around $300 in the last 6 months. well thats what he tells me

Yes tank prices have come down a lot.
I booght two Nylex 5,000 litres poly tanks three years ago - $1200 each !! Mind you they are very good quality - real thick walls and no pole needed to hold the top up.
I'd just be wary about the long term UV resistance of some of the cheaper tanks.

We have Poly Water Tanks. they are the ones with the smooth sides
    4x 20,000 ltr & 2x 10,000ltr, oldest must be 14+ years old

Good quality and the smooth sides are easier to clean if needed.
Can be pushed around the paddock with the Landrover (empty of course)
Suggest strapping old mattress to front of Landrover to protect both tank and LR!
