Monster Trucks @ Parramatta speed way

Had a heap of fun with the kids last Saturday at Parramatta speed way.

Had the pit area open from 4.30 to 5.45 so the kids, big and small could get real close up to the trucks and talk to the drivers, Also had one set up for rides. So nice to get to a very open family event that's not been crushed by the OH&S bull ****.

Anyway we had a great day! ( Even had motor cross and a Jet car )

The whole event was rather tame as only ended up with two trucks on their roof!, one redneck attempted a double back flip! Didn't give it enough stick at the crucial moment so it ended up in tears

They dropped cars off a crane, torched a car with the jet, spectacular fire works etc.

Took a heap of video, plenty all over the net that's similar. The truck known as AVENGER won. Scooby got 9 points for rolling it

Had a close look at these things in the pit. They have changed over the years. Bloody well engineered now days. Mostly custom built with composite bodies. The only of the shelf item I could see was the Clark Loader swivel joints. Very heavy duty! Most had a bus third member with custom built housings, shafts etc. Blown big block Chevy's on alcohol, Alison of equivalent autos, custom V drive. All the suspension and steering was chrome molly and hydraulic. ( Full orbital hydraulic steering with a position sensing.)

A few pics in the pits and action.....

    Cheers Tony

    Hi Rangier Rover,

Glad to hear you enjoyed the show!

You've pretty much got it sussed with how the trucks are built these days. Definately a far cry from the times of using stock truck chassis with steel bodies and leaf sprung suspension with 5 ton military axles.

Most of the Extreme Monster Truck Australia vehicles are tube chassis, with custom fibreglass bodies. All run a 540 ci Merlin with 8/71 supercharger on Methanol. Each powerplant puts about 1,500HP. Suspension usually consists of full nitrogen shocks with around 24-28 inches of travel depending on setup (such as Coombes or Racesource). Powerglide transmissions, profab transfer case. Axle and diff housings custom built with wheel restraint systems (Patrick Enterprises). All hydraulic steering front & rear. Front & rear sway bars.

These trucks were built to the same specifications as the trucks run in Monster Jam in the states. They are great fun.

If anyone here is from QLD, there is an event at Brisbane International Speedway (Archerfield) this Saturday November 6, and there will be 12 trucks at this event, it's going to be huge.

And Rangier, you mentioned about the OH&S stuff?? We got hammered by OH&S, thats why there was no racing - at a speedway for crying out loud!! These trucks will be racing in Brisbane though.

    P.S. Love the photos!
