    Welding gas

Where is a good place to get Welding gas in Brisbane from?
In the UK we call it Argoshield, but not sure what it's called over here.
Ideally I would be looking for the disposable bottles so I don't have to rent a bottle.
Will not be doing a great deal of welding.

    TIA

you do have the option of quarterly rental and it cost a bit less, you can bank up all your jobs and then rent a bottle and finish all your welding .

Most of the tool shops and some auto accessory places sell the small disposable bottles. I bought mine from Repco. To run these you will also need to buy the special regulator that you have to use with the disposable bottles.

They are small though - haven't measured it yet but was told somewhere that you get 13 feet of weld out of a bottle for a small to medium thickness job.

My bottle cost $32 a little while back and the regulator was about $70 but I noticed that Repco have put prices for bottles up to about $45.

I guess it depends on what you do - expensive for lots of welding.

Trade Tools have them also $37.50 and sometimes on special for $25.

I will be going to these soon. I really resent paying bottle rent, now $43 per quarter.

Thanks for that Garry, that's exactly what I was looking for. Just need to get the correct regulator now.
    Brian, whereabouts are Trade Tools?

I know how you feel , personally if there was an option I'd much rather purchase my own bottle and may be have it tested every so often for compliance.
