On average - 2 pages seems to be about the limit - after that threads seem to go off topic.

Yes stop distracting the thread with comments about hijacking and terrorism!

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Tata Motors has multiple contracts with Ford for the engine supply and they have different time lines, which extends beyond 2013. The company is in the process of giving Ford the engine volume (estimate) for 2013.

Ramakrishnan said they could look at alternate sources for getting engines. "Our agreement with Ford doesn’t prevent us from doing that. We can look at the Tata Motors range (of engines) too," he said.

The new assembly plants in Asia will make JLR models, starting with the premium sports utility vehicles of Land Rover. The plants will assemble parts shipped from the United Kingdom.
Back on topic - it gets better! Maybe Tata will fit a truck engine to the Defender? Do Tata even make Euro V spec diesels???

Not when we were buying them to stick into cheap gensets... The engines we were getting were based on 1960's engine designs - and I'm only talking 2 years ago, granted that they only had to meet stationary engine emissions requirements.

That is the only impression I ever got about TATA, and it wasn't a good one - uneconomical, noisy and unreliable. Fixed plenty of things on them under warranty while I was still at that company - a much higher percentage than any other engine we used.

    Cheers - Gav.

It seems Tata acquired Daewoo trucks recently as well - which are fitted with Cummins engines.

    Hmm - 8.3L Cummins straight 6 in a 110

I know Cummins make Euro V engines. Cummins and ISUZU are probably the world leaders in 4-10L diesels. I just didn't know that Tata/Daewoo used cummins engines.

AFAIK Cummins and Komatsu have a joint venture. Komatsu does not own cummins.
