Where to get rid of old oil - Sydney

    Hi People,
I need to change all the oils in the 110 and its the first time Ive done it whilst weve been in Sydney.

Changing it wont be a problem, but where do you all put your waste oil?

North Sydney council seem to be big on recycling so I cant see them wanting to take it away with them when they take the normal household rubbish??? Maybe they would if its in a sealed bottle?

I dont want to pay a garage to service my 110 when I am more than capable of doing so myself so any pointers on how to get rid of the old stuff would be most appreciated.

    Thanks
    Jon
    Regards,
    Jon

Not sydney, but I went to the local tip here in bathurst and they accept it for free if I take it to them, they charge you to have it collected from your house.

Not sure if the garbage tips in sydney do the same but might be a good place to start.

Google search oil recycling sydney and see what comes up, most places will take it for free if you take it to them

I give my sump oil to an opal miner, he says it burns well in his old caterpillar D9 after a bit of filtering to get the lumps out.

I dig a hole in the back corner and pour it in, then backfill. Been doing this for thirty years in the same spot and you won't find a trace of oil when you dig for the next lot.

I've seen the odd servo with a big bin for old oil. I think it needed to be in a container but could be left in the bin.

one of these petroleum companies will get an exploration licence (they already have them for under the urban areas of Sydney) and they'll reckon they've struck it rich if they run a test drill under your place....

find out who it is and buy their shares

The Waste Transfer facility on Wallgrove Road, Horsley Park will take sump oil.

There is a limit of 20 litres per person per day.
