You have got to be kidding! The main stream bikie groups in this country and the rest of the world are about one thing only, organised crime. Any association with motor bikes bought from the proceeds is purely a cover. In fact the best thing they can do is to ride their ill gotten bikes as often as possible thus improving the chance of removing themselves from the gene pool to the benefit of society and humanity in general. It is a shame that these criminals have so devalued and debased the biker name in the pursuit of their activitys. These people are criminals, they have no rights.

These people are criminals then treat them as criminals, police and prosecute them to the full extent of the law.

There are plenty of laws against the manufacture, distribution, sale and use of ilicit drugs - prosecute them.

There are laws against criminal conspiracy. Use them and prosecute them.

There are laws aganst criminals consorting with one another. Prosecute them for criminal consorting.

There are laws against theft. Prosecute them for stealing.

There are laws against hindering police. If they build bikie fortresses prosecute them for hinder police and resist arrest.

There are laws against the possession and use of firearms. prosecute them for firearms offences.

You don't have to enact legislation to ban a class of people (outside convicted criminals) associating with each other. Who will be next for wheel drive clubs? hunting and shooting clubs? There have been paedophiles identified in Scouting clubs, should we also include the Scout Association as a criminal organisation. Perhaps the Catholic Church should also be banned, plenty of paedophiles in that criminal organisation. Then there are the muslim extremists, perhaps we should declare islamic cultural groups as illegal criminal enterprises.

this is so true only a small percentage of bikies are criminals and even less bikers, but the bad ones do take up a lot of media attention and the politicians time. a criminal is a criminal where they ride a harley or are a judge. We cant loose our rights to fear, if the police are given the resources they need to carry out their jobs then all this posturing by the politicians isn't required

These people are criminals and those who consort with them. When existing laws become ineffective new ones are enacted. Laws are dynamic, they are enacted to address a problem.
The 'anti bikie laws' are such an example. They have nothing to do with banning a class of people (such as bona fide bikers), but everything to do with banning the association of criminals posing as a group of bona fide bikers.
The main stream bikie groups are about one thing and one thing only. Organised crime. These 'clubs' are set up to allow for the management and logistics of these crimes. Drug importation, manafacture and distribution, prostitution, extortion, theft, corruption, illegal firearms and so on are what these 'clubs' are all about. The association with motor bikes is the cover, the smokescreen used to cloak these activitys. None of this is new, it is all well documented.

As to the thin edge of the wedge, if this were anything to do with the limiting of association of anyone but criminals and their associates, like you, I'd be concerned.
Next time you pick up a paper and read about teenagers critically ill or dead as a result of taking illegal/illicit drugs give a thought to who manafactures and distributes these drugs. You can burn them at the stake as far as I'm concerned.

Well I used to think all the Chinese writing under the signs in Fortitude Valley were wrong too and if you were in Australia than you should be able to read English. WELL HERE IS THE NEWS FLASH!! I have worked in China and the Chinese have their signs in English as well.

Since the arrival of the first Aborigines, Australia has always been a land of of boat people, at least until the invention of aeroplanes. I know I am one. My father never learned not to speak loudly and slowly to the natives in an atrocious accent. Me, I have English as a first language and German as second, and I will speak to anyone who wants to live here so long as they don't want to injure me or rip me off. I think signs in another language are good, they show Australia the nation is growing up.

The Australian nation was a leader in true democracy and universal suffrage
Some of the older nations are still trying to achieve this.
