Obviously if they can't afford to offer a decent warranty it's going to cost to much to run.

can anyone build a decent 4wd that doesen't come full of inherent engineering faults these days?
no too many sparky things to go bang !!! go the tdi lol

Ummm... so did your d3 come with a "better" warranty then the current defender?
I am thinking your d3 would have had a 3y warranty?

I think that very few people are having problems with the MY10/My11 defenders.

I was just in the local dealership a couple of weeks ago getting details/quote on extending the warranty on our Puma as the factory warranty runs out next June, and I'm only on the third diff Was planning to extend it after Christmas.

On the strength of this thread I contacted the dealership, and expecting the worse, said I'd like to extend the warranty, like right now.

Well, they did ! No mention of it no longer being available. The application form (Allianz) was emailed back/forth quickly and I've received a confirmation email today "Your Warranty Policy has now been issued and a PDS has been sent to you in the mail with your credit card receipt. Once again thank you for your . . . "

When I receive the PDS I'll confirm that's it's the real deal.

Great! Perhaps you might PM the OP with dealer details so he can buy one too.

This is all very confusing. I have contacted dealers all over Australia and spoken to multiple people at both LR and Allianz and no-one completely agrees if it is available or not. I have found that nearly all the dealers I spoke to believe it is available until they try to put the sale through and then discover that it is withdrawn. In contrast to all other reps I spoke to I had one Allianz rep cryptically tell me that it may or may not be available, and even if it were they could not tell me which dealer was selling them.
It does appear that there is warranty available through NCW but I cannot get confirmation that it has to be bought with your defender or you can tack it onto the factory warranty at a latter date. I have contacted NCW three times in the last fortnight and each time a kid answers the phone, takes my details and tells me a rep will contact me which they don't. This coupled with most dealers I've talked to telling me to avoid this company because of the warranty's fine print and hassles when trying to make claims (backed up by a quick google search) has me dismissing this route unless I get proof otherwise.
    Hope springs eternal

    Extended Waranty Defenders

I have just extended mine bout 4 weeks ago but was told that it was the last one my dealer was doing because Alianz was dropping it but honoring the existing quotes completed prior to their policy change.
