Yeah, Australians do have their own heroes, like Paul Hogan, and look what the ATO (tried) to do to him.......

Too many sheep in Australia now, they all adore false icons like Oprah. Can not believe that the Aussie taxpayer has funded a pompous overpowered oaf on a big holiday and paid her millions as well. They may tout it generates tourism, but IMHO that should not be a function of taxpayer money as it largely stimulates and benefits business and should be privately funded by Chambers Of Commerce. Same as the FIFA bid.
Have absolutely no problem with her making money or people following her like lost sheep, but no at our cost.

It was embarrassing to watch even the bloody Prime Minister following her around like an adoring fan. Maybe that is the answer we should make Oprah the Prime Minister and big red can bugger off and go find a new job.

    cheers,

This whole Oprah thing is really ****ing me off.

    Really really really.

So she;s good for tourism does that mean that we all have to lick the ground she walks on? Bugger me, this country is populated by "sheeple" who do nothing but tell OTHERS how to live their lives..

"Shooting is bad we'll ban it"
"4wding is bad, we'll ban it"
    etc bloddy cetera
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

She's been "papped" a couple of times since arriving here too...

    Looking out from her hotel.....

...and then heading down for a swim in the hotel pool...
