    Almost a White Xmas

    1620hrs 15 December 2010 at Loganlea Qld.
    Temperature approx 28degrees C
    Humidity around 60%
Hail in our neck of the woods is a rarity especially this heavy, but some Brisbaneites may recall another storm similar to this one passing through years ago and wiping out a lot of the old warehouses around Eagle Farm area.
This is only the second one of this magnitude I can recall in Logan over the past 30 odd years. (They usually go around us!)
About the second hail stone hit the mirror on the ute and "unclipped" the mirror housing! By the time we realised how heavy the hail was there was no way I was going out into it to cover the rest of the car!
Thank the lord I still havent got the Disco as the Aluminium wouldn't have fared as well as the steel.

Possibly as close as we'll ever get to a White Christmas!

And now the sun is out, the sky is clear and it is time to pick up a couple of hailstones from the back yard and immerse them in some Bundy with just a taste of coke!
    Regards
    Glen

Can you imagine driving a series 3 with little demisting capabilities and very poor windscreen wipers home in it stopped twice as visibility was nearly zero and then the hail..was worried about the canvas and the precious paint work but got home in one piece and it seems the little truck stood up just fine..the only place it leaked is where it always leaks in a heavy down pour....OH and the generator is still running as we have no power

PS.. CC some more paint work has now been removed from the truck...less rubbing back I supose

At Norman Park, yesterdays storm was but a boy compared with the two on Saturday last.
The first one at 2.00 pm was a bloody severe storm but the one that followed at 4.00 pm was an absolute ripper. Couldn't see the park that is one row of houses behind me, rain in big heaps coming in horizontal, and the wind whipping waves of water up the pitch of roofs and spraying it over the peaks in great curls.
