It's no different than Tojo,Honda,Isuzu etc assembling vehicles in third world country's to beat Aust import tarrifs.India and China have both been making Euro vehicles for years,VW have 50% of the chinese market. Pat
Reading the recent LRM this sticks out ...
"Tata Motors CEO Carl-Peter Forster has already confirmed that some Land Rovers will be built in India in the form of CKD kits. The first model heading Asia's way will be the Freeloader 2, which is scheduled to be built near Pune. The local assembly means that the Freeloader 2 can be sold at a lower price, skirting the so-called 110% import taxes"
Then this ...
"Land Rover will also start assembly operations in China. It is currently in talks with prospective partners."
Somewhere else in the magazine I caught something that stated that in future it is looking likely that Range Rover and Land Rover will become two separate and distinct brands. Some might say this is already pretty much the case but who knows what it means long term for Land Rover as a whole.
Simon.

RR and LR are going for distinct brand identities. RR's will not feature LR badging etc.
This is different to becoming a separate company.
It will stay one company to allow continued sharing of engines / components / platforms and so on.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".
