All the telco come lately are very happy to sell services to customers in the city, but name one company other than Optus, who has bothered to to lay any copper? (And Optus didn't lay it near John.) They all rely on Telstra copper for landlines and ADSL and what ever the new infrastructure company that gets to own the copper in the ground, they will still be the ones repairing it and you can bet West of the ranges it won't be any improvement in service.
I won't be voting to split the company unless the Government pays a lot of money.
