Well, they are up in the dunes next to the lake access track, a fair time since water was up there. My thoughts were some type of slug, but not really obvious to me.

About how long? Did you pick one up and if so did it change shape? Was it soft bodied or did it seem hard or rigid? Did the sand stay in place because the 'thing' seem moist or was it like it was stuck on? How fast did it move? Could you see any moving parts like little legs? Did you consider it may be an insect carrying it's cocoon?

    Cheers

about 30mm, didn't touch it, seemed soft bodied though, the way it was moving. sand definately looked stuck on it due to moisture, couldn't see legs, and no leg marks in the sand - just a slither track....creepy.

Thanks Justin. Will need to consult a couple of books when I am back at work on 4 Jan. Will also bounce the mysterious beastie of some critter gurus I know.

Last couple of question: had you had any rain, or heavy dew. Aprox. time of day when photo was taken? (ie was the sand a bit damp?)

    Cheers
