I thought you were rappin' Grand Master Flash's The Message.
I just got back from a 5 day Xmas camping break at Big River between Thornton & Jamieson near the Alpine region in Vic. Found a wonderful secluded site next to the Toponga River. First time I have camped in this beautiful area and certainly not the last.
But i was amazed at the amount of broken glass I found scatterd everywhere. With 3 kids in our small group it wasn't wise to just ignore it. I spent near 30 mins walking around this small campsite collecting broken glass & empty stubbies within a 10 meter. You can't beleive how much I collected & took home with me. In this day & age its amazing some people can still be so brainless.![]()

This is an issue I have found all around Australia and it really annoys me. We seem to be re-entering the 70's as far as littering goes.

It is dickheads like this who are usually in the minority stuffing up things for the majority.Green opposition to things like camping etc can only make mileage out of what these grubs are doing. But how do you catch them?
I was having a chat to a park ranger a couple of weeks ago about track conditions around that place and we got onto the topic of tracks which had been closed.
He said that the reason many tracks in the park had been closed was due to people dumping rubbish. If people have to walk, they don't take so much with them - and a lot of the idiot brigade wont walk for 20min to get to a camp site in any case so just go some where else.
I did note that there were no bins provided in this park - but I really don't think that this is an argument either. If you can bring it in, you can take it out.

I camped on a mates block at The Honeysuckles between Christmas and the New Year. The neighbours were telling me that that it's quite common for them to arrive and find "illegal" campers cutting down trees to burn, crapping in the bushes with no attempt at burial, partying all night with doof doof thumping away smashing bottles etc.
We picked up 3 bags of rubbish before we even set up camp.
We took a 1000 liter tank of water, chemical toilet and firewood with us, just in case.
Mate, people are disgusting pigs with no respect for other peoples property. Bush campsites are just that, the bush. Once they leave they never have to come back, it's not their problem any more. There's another 4X4 forum that has spent considerable time helping upgrade facilities at O'Tooles flat, only to see their efforts uprooted, circle worked on and burnt every long weekend.
I am now of the opinion that a permit system should be in place for public lands.
When you are issued a permit you acknowledge that you have responsibilities to abide by and if you don't follow the rules you get a hefty fine and the revocation of your permit. It's nice to go to campsites with long drop dunnies that the Mrs can enjoy that don't have Hilux front ends imprinted in them.
And all over every suburban road too. You ought to try cycling anywhere after xmas and new year.![]()
And if you shot them for the vermin they are, you would be the one in trouble. Where is the justice.
