    Santa went digital for Xmas

Santa decided to go digital this year by replacing the kids bedroom TV's. I'm now stuck with 3 portable CRT TV's still in perfect working order and I really don't know what to do with them. Is it simply a matter of taking them to the tip? What are my other solutions?

I agree - donate them. If you're just going to chuck them some enterprising individual will likely salvage and sell on.

I have heard that the Salvos or Vinnies didn't really want electrical goods like these but lets give it a go. Its a shame to see them go to waste.

I think you're right, they don't take electrical goods. Maybe donate to a shelter?

Around Adelaide I know Lions and Scouts will take electrical donations. (The scouts apparently sell CRT monitors for $3 each to the latest group of refugees wanting to go online.). Otherwise a notice at your local shopping mall, if they have a board. Freebies go over well in poorer areas. There could also be internet based comminity swap sites where you can advertise for free.

The problem is old TVs are soon going to be useless without a digital box, so no charity shops etc really want them. The tip near Riversdale station off Riversdale Rd in Camberwell has a free e-waste drop off. At least that way some part is recycled rather than just landfill.

I'm not sure what facilities are out in the Northern subs. Banyule tip?

Use them as AV monitors for your security system!

They are starting to become difficult to give away.

    G'day Folks

I would be checking to find out who will take them, as there will be a need for working TV's & Computers for those that have lost the lot in Qld, as a lot of these people won't be covered by insurance if I had anything that was working and usefull that is what I would be doing.

There will be one of those orginisations that will have a flood appeal going.

    cheers

Thats what I'll be doing when we replace our three CRT TV's, no one will buy them, so off to the tip they go, our tip also has a bargain centre attatched to it so im gunna see if they will take them first.
