What would you buy?
Hi all.
I know this has been asked a 1000 times, but I have been searching the threads and are going around the twist as each post only relates to one problem and there seems to be many.
Having no excess cash, (I know, robinson crusoe) I have 3k to intially spend on a disco and I can count on spending another 1-2k on repairs.
Will be a second car and used solely for bush excursions only. Nearest bush, 3.5 hrs drive.
So, out of all the Disco models in the price range of 3-6k, what will be best buy considering running expenses and longevity: TD200-300/V8/V8on gas
Thanks

1993 3.5 litre V8 2 door Disco on gas. They are the least loved so you can get a good one for a song. The 3.5 is tons more reliable than the 3.9. Bloke I know just bought one "as traded" from a dealer for $1500, no RWC, in Victoria, it passed SA roadworthy checks with very little work. Rip the rear seats out and its a great bush truck.

Save some more money and wait for the right one to come along.
Poor man pays twice and with patience, you will get one.
Agree with the 3.5L.
Could also do a RRC, thye come up often and at the right price plus have more room in the back and arguably better ride.

not sure which Disco model, but the newer the better I think, cept the 3.5 is the better engine reliability wise.
PS I do know though that TD 3.0L Jackaroos (the ones with the CAT injectors) are one of the few cars that could give you even more trouble than a cheap Disco

Stay away from Jackaroo's with Huey injectors.Buy the best disco you can find regardless of engine. Pat

Thanks guy's for your comments.
It's ironic, I just sold a great 2 door RR for $1500 as the anchor hated the "old heap of s__t smell" that eminated from the interior and the fact that I had to take out a home loan for every trip and thats why she wouldnt travel in it. (yeh, I know, should have got rid of the _______).
What is also ironic is that I was just looking at Jackaroos.
Christ I'm desperate, I love this life at the bottom of the food chain, you always have your hand in your pocket for heaps of _______.
Anyway, I'm OK now.
Thanks all of you for your suggestions, maybe I'll just stay home!
