    Alibaba Warrinig

To anyone that uses Any of the online trade sites be warned the scammers have got clever

They now use legitimate company names as a front or cover

    I recently got scammed

I used Alibaba to find contact in China for some items i was planning on bringing over

I have used it many time and never been scammed before

I sent a contact through Alibaba to the supplier got some quotes
Asked for their company web site and details did all the thing they tell you to on the sites Beware of scammers page

Double checked phone numbers and addresses everything appeared good on the surface

I organized an order after a week of emails

Just to be sure i insisted on TT Telegraphic transfer for payment
NEVER PAY WITH WESTERN UNION is the rule i thought

I went to the bank had them arrange the payment
Went home sent a copy of the details to the supplier
He sent an email back with an invoice and picture of the items i had bought
Told me he would check the payment the next day and send me the tracking number for shipping

The next day i thought to myself ill get back on Alibaba and se what else they have only to find Nothing no web page anymore
All the links i had to items where dead

It had only been 24 hours so i shot down the bank and asked if it was possible to stop the TT

Yes she said so we filled in all the paperwork whent home and thought i had better check the fine print

Yes they can stop the payment but only if the other party agrees

Well what good is that none what so ever

    So just a heads up

If you buy something from overseas it doesn't matter how you pay you have done your dosh nothing you can do

So just be careful dont think just cause it feels right looks right and even smells right they will go to almost unbelievable
    extremes
Including hacking legitimate company web sites and intercepting emails

I have bought stuff from overseas many many many times and never had a problem And it got me easy

Unless you know their IP hahahaha got some reading to do tonight

I always use PayPal. If they don't take PayPal I don't buy.
That said, I don't really know how much protection I get by using PayPal but reckon that a scammer most probably wont use that method of payment.

Alibaba have an escrow service. I have never found a seller to agree to using an escrow service and have consequently never bought anything off them. Somehow a Yamaha WR450 for $1100 US delivered to Australia seemed to quack like a duck.

Following transcript is for a 2010 YZ450 for sale on Alibaba.com. Interesting read. I am still not sure what she was trying to sell me though.
    Cheers
    Sheridan

    .
Im the same, I have bought a few items from places in china via Alibaba and have insisted on using PayPal. Some have refused to so I told them I would shop elsewhere, some who didnt have paypal set up their own account for me. I found that some said hey wouldnt use it because of the fees for the seller. I offered to pay for the fees on top of the purchase price, cheap insurance if you ask me, and they agreed, problem solved.

If anyone has any advise on being an annoying asshole let me know

Not destructive or illegal just annoying

A friend suggested something called Warping to continually ping the remote pc but that's just boring and does nothing really

And i couldn't find it anyway

I kept getting annoying calls from a large insurance etc co,so finally I asked the idiot to email me info. From that I established their email address format (just the usual initial.surname@) and on their website found a substantial list of employee contacts. Then spent the next 12 hours signing the whole company up for as much pron as I could. 4 days later my test emails to them bounced and the website listed their emails in a different format.

Check out 419eater.com for suggestions on how to scam scammers,or just to have a laugh at how far some will go to get their revenge.
