Obviously her greed is greater than her pride. Another enditment of our society that allows reward in place of lessons learnt. Survival of the smartest just took another shot to the head! Our species is DooMed!

Texting Fountain Lady Lawyers Up, Goes on Weepy Offensive

With her identity finally revealed, the infamous fountain lady should be joyously reveling in an undoubtedly fleeting moment of Internet fame. Instead, Cathy Cruz Marrero (who actually works, or worked, at the mall where she fell) has hired a lawyer and is publicly crusading for sympathy and an apology. Speaking with George Stephanopoulos, Cruz Marrero and her attorney recently explained the self-explanatory misstep, and expressed a determination "to hold all parties accountable." (Parties? Really?)

Seeking compassion and favor from the Web community (which obviously thrives on embarrassing slapstick hilarity) definitely seems like a hopeless cause. Ms. Cruz Marerro would probably be better suited by hiring an agent, crafting an auto-tune ditty or adding the 'Benny Hill' theme as background music. But, the time for those actions may have passed, because the fountain lady's ongoing media crusade has provoked some unintended, and particularly unflattering, publicity.

According to the Reading Eagle, Cruz Marrero landed in court Thursday over previous criminal charges involving theft. Her apparently extensive record also reportedly includes a careless driving charge that resulted from a hit and run incident. "Careless," huh? Imagine that.

She's lucky it was only a fountain. I nearly run over a few of these mindless get a real life texters crossing the road in front of my vehicle without looking - because they are so engrossed in their "I need to get a life "amusement. Do I sue them for negligence or do I become the defendant???

every time I see one on a phone I just want to grab them and shake some sense into them. at least in the old days they would use a phone booth, at least it kept them safe in one place off the road

I wonder if her phone still worked after going for a dip. I'd be suing Nokia as well as the Mall if it didn't. No wonder nobody helped her, she couldn't dial 000.

A while ago a I went to a restaurant with some friends. We had a table on a mezzanine floor and could look down on those on the lower floor. Below us was a table of 4. There were two phones on the table and all 4 sitting at the table were each holding other phones and punching at the keypads. Must have been a great night out for them.
