+ the time to re-do the work that wasn't done properly the first time, then to pay for the purchase, lease and maintenance of the workshop: tools; hoists, fittings, the costs of cleaning, waste removal, Office equipment, consumables, insurance, public liability, acountant, preparation of BAS statements and tax, pay receptionist wages and superannuation. I have done a bit of research here on the Northern Beaches of Sydney, (the Northern beaches is not known as one of the "cheaper" areas) and this is what I have found:
Basic Mechanic: $80 - $90hr
"Trade" mechanic (i.e. fridgy / sparky etc) $110hr
A/C check at most mechanics is included in the service
A/C Regas costs $150
Get major parts online prior to any service, e.g. I just put poly bushes on my radius arms, they cost me $50 delivered to my door for all 6 sets, from one of the biggest suppliers in the UK
When you go to pay the bill it will always be "ooohhh that was harder than we thought" so if a mechanic says 3hrs, I always think 4
